About the service

One team, one plan.

Recovery from a work or motor-vehicle injury is usually multidisciplinary. GP assessment, physiotherapy for musculoskeletal recovery, psychology for the mental-health side of injury, and dietetics where pain, weight or rehabilitation nutrition matter. Coordinating those appointments across different clinics is often where the journey stalls.

At SMSG, GPs and allied health work from the same premises and coordinate through the one clinical record. Your GP leads the plan, issues the certificates and referrals your insurer needs, and pulls in physiotherapy, psychology and dietetics as your claim allows. Where a wider rehabilitation pathway is needed, we partner with Synergy Medical to connect you to support services outside our group, with your consent.

How it works

Booking, billing and the day itself.

Please provide your claim number and insurer details when booking, or bring them to the appointment. This allows us to direct invoices to the appropriate insurer where applicable.
01
Book the appointment type

Choose between a GP consult (physical or psychological injury) or an initial physiotherapy consult. Provide your claim number and insurer details when booking so we can direct invoices appropriately.

02
Attend the consultation

Your GP or physiotherapist assesses the injury, discusses treatment options, issues relevant certificates and documentation, and coordinates the next steps in your care.

03
Ongoing care

Reviews are booked as needed. Your GP coordinates any allied health referrals under your claim, and can partner with Synergy Medical to connect you with wider rehabilitation and support services where appropriate.

If a valid claim number has not been provided, full payment for the consultation is required at the time of your appointment. You may then seek reimbursement from your insurer or claims manager where applicable.

Fees and billing

Direct to your insurer.

Where a valid claim number and insurer details are provided, invoices are directed to the appropriate insurer.

If a claim number has not been provided or the claim has not been accepted, full payment for the consultation is required at the time of your appointment. You may then seek reimbursement from your insurer or claims manager where applicable.

Reception can confirm the applicable fee at booking based on the appointment type and your claim status.

FAQ

Common questions.

What is a workers compensation appointment?

A workers compensation appointment is a GP consultation for an injury or illness that arose in the course of work. Your GP can assess the injury, provide treatment, issue a Certificate of Capacity, and coordinate onward care with your insurer's approval.

What is a CTP appointment?

A CTP (Compulsory Third Party) appointment is a GP consultation for an injury sustained in a motor vehicle accident, billed to the CTP insurer under your claim.

Do I need my claim number before booking?

It helps. Please provide your claim number and insurer details when booking, or before your appointment. This lets us direct invoices to the correct insurer where applicable.

What happens if I don't have a claim number yet?

You can still book. Without a valid claim number, full payment for the consultation is required at the time of your appointment. You may then seek reimbursement from your insurer or claims manager where applicable.

Do I need a referral?

No. Workers compensation and CTP appointments can be booked directly with a GP or on-site physiotherapist.

Can I access allied health under my claim?

Yes, where approved by your insurer. On-site allied health includes physiotherapy, psychology and dietetics. Your GP will coordinate the treatment plan and referrals as part of your care.

What is Synergy Medical?

Synergy Medical is a partner service that supports patients navigating their workers compensation and CTP journey. Where appropriate and with your consent, our team coordinates with Synergy Medical to connect you with rehabilitation and support services.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Your identification, your claim number and insurer details, any certificates or reports from other treating clinicians, a list of your current medications, and any forms provided by your insurer or employer.
